What is the Tenants Union?
We are Portland tenants organizing a city-wide tenant union–inclusive of all current renters and those who need a home. Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live.
Why become a member?
Becoming a member of PTU means you have the full force and power of a union behind you when dealing with your landlord and/or filing complaints with the city for health, safety, and illegal rent charges. Members have a voice in our union's work and vote on major decisions. Being a member means you have hundreds of other tenants ready to stand with you and that you are ready to stand with them.
How much are membership dues?
We ask all members to pay monthly dues based on a proportion of your rent ($10 per every $1000 you pay in rent). If you can't do that we ask you pay what you can. If union membership dues can't fit into your budget right now you can fill out our dues waiver.
How to comes a member?
